Next semester I plan on using my time more productively. I will also try to not procrastinate when given a photo assignment. I will also try to have stronger concepts and not use my first or second ideas. GRADE: C+

Dear Katie,      In order to be successful in your photography class, you need to be creative with every prompt. Looking on Pinterest is great way to get some inspiration. However, don't just pick the first idea you see. Instead scroll through and you'll see some amazing projects. Also, you're going to hate some of the prompts, but don't give up on your designs. Keep working and they'll start to look how you imagined. When taking your photos, don't wait until it gets dark outside and you have no good, natural lighting. Plan ahead to the perfect time for you to take your pictures, where all the elements like lighting and shadows look how you want them. In Photoshop, don't just use the same three tools over and over again. That can get boring. Be creative and use a plethora of different tools and visuals. In class, you will have downtime. Art Response- The Importance of Art

I can both agree and disagree with this statement. I think that schools should be spending money to help us enter the workforce. However, the arts is a part of the workforce. Art is being pushed to more apart of everyday. Jobs like photographers and musicians are becoming more common during the age of technology. So, in order to truly prepare us for the workforce, we should be taught a little bit of every career choice to help teens pick out the best choice for them. Art is becoming more prominent in our society and teens need to be educated about it.

What Art? Part One Response

1. The mood of the images is tense and angry. In both of the images, she is by herself and in the first one looks like she may be looking for someone/something. They are also tense through their brush strokes, each one is thick and heavy. The models expressions look angry/tense through their posture and expressions too. However, the second models posture is slightly more casual than the first one's. 2. I think these images were created using oil based pastels. Oil pastels create a heavier look, similar to the ones presented. 3. Color always plays a role in an image, even when there is lack of color. The mood is definitely accentuated with color. It causes the images to look more dramatic. 4. I think the artist intended to convey feelings of anger. They are trying to evoke strong feelings of anger. I think the artist was successful with their attempt to convey anger through these images.
